We’re proud to share some exciting news from the international stage! Prairie Bus Lines’ very own Claudia Christen has taken first place in the Small Bus (Type A) category at the 2025 NSTA School Bus Driver International Safety Competition, held Saturday, June 28, in Austin, Texas.
Claudia’s journey to this incredible achievement began last month when she secured first place at the Alberta School Bus Roadeo, earning her spot to represent the province — and Canada — at the prestigious international event. The annual NSTA competition brings together top drivers from across North America to compete in one of three vehicle classes: Small Bus (Type A), Conventional (Type C), and Transit (Type D).
With nearly 16 years of experience behind the wheel, Claudia is no stranger to school bus competitions, having participated in numerous roadeos over the years. Her dedication, precision, and passion for the craft were on full display in Austin as she tackled the challenging course designed to test drivers’ skills, safety knowledge, and professionalism.
“If you don’t try, you’ll never know!” said Claudia. “The Safety Competition course was great—we had a lot of room, and everyone was cheering for you. That atmosphere made it very special.”
Claudia also shared her thoughts on the unique challenge of competing in the Small Bus (Type A) category:
“I feel that Type A is one of the hardest classes to compete in, as this bus has so many blind spots.”
Her achievement is not only a personal triumph but a proud moment for Prairie Bus Lines and the entire Pacific Western Group of Companies.
Congratulations, Claudia! Your commitment to safety, excellence, and lifelong learning is truly inspiring. We admire your hard work and determination, and we couldn’t be prouder to have you as part of our team.
